Centros de Cuidado Intermedio para Personas con Discapacidades del Desarrollo (ICF/IID)

Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities –(ICF/IID)– for children and adults are licensed by the DBHDS Office of Licensing.  A provider must be certified by the Virginia Department of Health, Office of Licensing and Certification.

Single Point of Entry

Effective May 1, 2018, DBHDS implemented the Single Point of Entry process in collaboration with The Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS).  This process mandates that all individuals seeking placement in an ICF/IID must be screened by DBHDS utilizing the Virginia Individual Developmental Disabilities Eligibility Survey (VIDES). It is important that this process is followed by all facilities planning to bill Medicaid for services.

Children’s ICF/IID Initiative

DBHDS closely collaborates with the children’s facilities in Virginia to ensure that families are properly educated regarding service options available in the community.  The Family Resource Consultants maintain ongoing contact with families, Community Services Boards, and facility staff to offer support and guidance regarding discharge planning and navigating community options.

The Commonwealth is committed to ensuring individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities are provided with the opportunity to live, work and receive support in the most integrated settings appropriate to meet their needs. DBHDS has developed a Training Center Admissions Process to promote informed choice and the exploration of the least restrictive options prior to seeking Training Center admission.

Local Community Services Boards are the point of entry into the service delivery
system for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  A Community Services Board Support Coordinator should consult with their assigned Community Resource Consultant (CRC) for guidance prior to initiating an application for admission.

Following consultation with a CRC, completed applications and the required documentation should be submitted to Heather Fisher, SEVTC Facility Director, at Heather.Fisher@dbhds.virginia.gov or faxed to her attention at 757.424.8502
